MVP: Starfall The Intrepid Episodes 48-53
As the Captain began to organise the evacuation, Bruuke spotted a spy keeping track of Eldari. Ordered to follow and apprehend for questioning, Brukke shadowed the spy back to an isolated comms tower. Just as the spy was about to use the comms unit there, she cut him down.
On board the Intrepid the ship was alerted to red alert as the Khan’in fleet had jumped into the system. Their time had run out.
An emergency evacuation began, but there was not enough room to evacuate the entire academy even with the transports that were in the system.
One of the fleet training officers a retired admiral informed Eldari that an out of commission carrier was buried deep in the training facility, if they could repair is power core, there was more than enough room to evacuate the remaining cadets.
Eldari ordered Jag, Tukka and Tia to assist the Training officer, while Eldari ordered his small fleet to take up a defensive posture over the planet to give the cadets enough time to get aboard the Transports and make their way to the exit point.
The Khanin fleet launched fighters and planetary bombardment missiles, as the defence fleet started to attempt to take out the missiles as the fighters closed in on their position.
Ryk Akun approached the captain and said, about a dark presence he could feel on the surface, he believes something evil is there and must be confronted. Loev was ordered to take, Bruuke, Kroom and Peridot to escort the Weaver to the planet surface to deal with the menace.
Taking a shuttle they arrived at the abandoned Academy, Loev could now feel the presence too. He could not explain what it was. Ryk explained it’s what truly drove the Weavers away. The truth lays ahead.
Depe in side an auditorium they came across the Dark weaver, a Specre, hiding in the shadows as a puppet-master. He was not alone, the Saurian (Lizardman) had a host of insurgents with him. They had slipped onto the planet in all the confusion in the hopes of assassinating Eldari. but luck had it that he had to return to the ‘intrepid to deal with the Khan’in fleet.
A battle ensured… With the Specre defeated, Peridot, Bruuke and Kroom all seriously wounded from the fire fight withe the insurgents. They returned to the Intrepid victorious.
However, meanwhile, on the Intrepid they discovered that one of the missiles was equipped with an EMP blast that took out their shields and several of the missiles were equipped with short-range transporters and held Kha’in shock troops. Who teleported onto the Intrepid’s bridge. A firefight took place, and many of the bridge crew died defending the bridge. But Captain Eldari led them to victory.
Just at that point Jag managed to get the reactor online and the Carrier equipped with the remaining cadets launched into space…
The Khan’in Fleet was minutes away from engagement, Eldari commanded the fleet to jump to the predefined coordinates to the edge of Polarian space into Clone territory.
The Intrepid, faster than the rest of the fleet arrived weeks earlier. They discovered a nebulae with an ice field at its heart. Sensors show some sort of facility deep within. Using the nav points left in the secured files by President Talimaria, the Intrepid entered. With keen piloting by Popkiss, the ship arrived at the location at the heart of the nebulae.
An old apparently abandoned facility was attached to one of the large Iceroids. Eldari led an away team onto the facility, it was not abandoned as first thought, but destroyed, something had torn its way through, killing all within. Bodies floated about inside. They made their way to the control centre. There Eldari managed to reboot the systems. Contacting Intrepid the ship detected a large energy source in engineering also they reported a large vessel was in the vicinity suddenly showing on sensors! IT appeared Mecha! …
Just then the systems in the facility lost control and a robotic menacing voice echoed through the facilities… ‘At last Eldari, I have found you… You will not escape me this time!’ Eldari did not know who or what the Mecha was talking about, so they raced to the energy source. Their sensors showed a lot of movement racing through the facility towards them.
They found a large portal device and started to hook it up, while the rest of the away team took up defensive positions. Just as the device fired up, the Mecha began to pour into engineering, Laser fire exchanging back and forth the team jumped through the portal…
When the darkness melted away, the team found themselves in a pre-launch party back on the day they were about to launch on their first voyage on the Intrepid.
Eldari said ‘I have no idea what has happened but we must tread carefully and do things right… This time…’
